Abstract

ABSTRACT Jazmi Kusumajati, Aulia. “The Embodiment of The Concept of Giri and Ninjou Illustrated in Izuku Midoriya in The Manga Boku No Hero Academia”. A thesis of Japanese Department, Diponegoro University. Advisor: Zaki Ainul Fadli, M.Hum dan Arsi Widiandari, S.S, M.Si. The material object used in this study is a manga titled Boku No Hero Academia. While the formal object in this study is the embodiment of the concept of giri and ninjou. This research uses library research methods to obtain data that support this thesis. The theory supporting this research is the structural approach by Burhan Nurgiyantoro and several books on the concept of giri and ninjou by Ruth Benedict, Kiyohide Seki, and Takeo Doi. The purpose of this study is to describe the embodiment of the concept of giri and ninjou in the manga Boku No Hero Academia. Based on data that has been analyzed, there are two divisions in the giri, giri by type and giri by nature. Giri by type is divided into two, giri to the world and giri to one name. Then giri based on its nature, it’s also divided into two, atatakai giri and tsumetai giri. Furthermore, based on data that has been analyzed, there are several manifestations of ninjou contained in the Manga Boku No Hero Academia. Keywords: giri; ninjou; Boku No Hero Academia
