Abstract

ABSTRACT Dony Ari Putra Sulistyardi, 2019. “Contrastivities of Structure and Sign in Japanese and Indonesian Nissin Food TV Advertisements”. a thesis of Japanese Language and Culture, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Supervisor: Maharani Patria Ratna, S.S., M.Hum. This research discusses similarities and differences of structure and sign in both of Japanese and Indonesian Nissin Food TV advertisements. The purpose of this research was to identify structure and sign in both of them and also contrastivities that found in both. The method that used for analysis data is descriptive qualitative. Data were analyzed using the theory of Bolen as a reference to analyze structure of advertisement and theory of Peirce as a reference to analyze icons, indexes, and symbols in the advertisement. Based on result of data analysis, it can be known that the structure of both of TV advertisements are same, but they have different objective proporsition. In the icon, the two have same icon, that is people. The difference of both is only in their form. Index of both have an amount of four, respectively and they are different. Symbol of both have an amount of three, respectively and they have an equal symbol. Keywords: Contrastivities, Structure, Sign, Advertisement, Semiotics, Discourse
