Abstract

ABSTRACT Inayah, Riska Shofiatun. 2019. “Analisis Sufiks –ya, –kan, –ten dalam Bahasa Jepang”. Thesis. Department of Japanese Language and Culture, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The advisor: Lina Rosliana, S.S., M.hum. The research aims is to describe the structure and meaning of suffix showing a places in Japanese language. Furthermore , this research also to describe the possibilities of the suffix –ya –kan and –ten to subtitute each other. The data which is used are obtained from the Japanese website and online news articles. The data were collected by observation method and writing technique. Then for data analysis using the agih method. The results of the analysis are presented by an informal method which explained with a simple word. Based on the result of the analysis, suffix –ya –kan and –ten mostly attached on a noun, but there is one data that attached on adjective. The suffix –ya and –ten can be attached on all of the word class (hinshi) but suffix –kan only attacehd on kango and gairaigo. The suffix –ya –kan and –ten is used to indicate places in Japanese. Suffix –ya showing a place in the form of a shop or a house. The suffix -kan shows the place in the form of large buildings including (meetinghouses, large houses, commercial buildings, western-style buildings), lodging, government offices, public buildings / facilities and training centers for school facilities. While the suffix -ten shows a place in the form of a store or stand that sells services or products. Those suffixes can replace each other if the place shows a place for commercial purposes, but although they can replace each other the three suffixes have different images. Suffix –ya have an image that the place is coming from an independent business, owned by the family, usually this shop has been around for a long time and the scale of the business is smalle than suffix –ten. The suffix –kan has an image that the place coming from big business from big company and also have a big building. The suffix –ten have an image that the place comes from newer and modern business industry and the scale of the business is slightly larger than the suffix -ya .
