Abstract

Kata Kunci : Lumpur, dewatering, plate and frame filter press, dan PAC. Poly Aluminium Chloride (PAC) is a coagulant that commonly used in sludge dewatering process. The coagulant has properties that can attract other particles in the water media, weight, size, and shape become bigger and easier to settle. PAC is a special salt of aluminium chloride compounds thats is able to provide stronger coagulation and flocculation power compared to ordinary aluminium salts such as aluminium sulfat (Al2(SO4)3) or ferric chloride (FeCl3). In this research, the process of separation between suspended solid particles in the sludge of the Tunjungsari River Tembalang using a plate and frame filter press filtration machine. In the dewatering process, a variation of PAC coagulant is added (I (2 g/L) ; II (2,5 g/L) ; III (3 g/L)) to determine the optimal coagulant dose to the efffectiveness of dewatering process with plate and frame filter press machine can be seen from the value of water content in cake and the value of the Specific Resistance to Filtration (SRF) produced, while the most optimal dose of PAC coagulant is 3 g/L (variable III), where the lowest value of water content in cake is produced on 3 rd plate is (9,32%), while the lowest SRF value is 2.027.364,90 m/kg. Keywords : Sludge, dewatering, plate and frame filter press, and PAC.
