Abstract

This type of research is a case study method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The paradigm used is constructivism. The study was conducted in four stages. Gather information that is potentially biased in information, make observations and ask questions, confirm selected information and ask questions to management regarding gatekeeping at the organizational level. The results of the study, gatekeeping conducted in media routines, reporters chose information in accordance with the specificity of the news in Tribunnews, both when they were assigned or not and prioritized issues relating to the region because it was also for print consumption. Complicated and unclear information will not be picked up. Almost all information passes from the editor's desk, regardless of where the source is and how to get it. While at the organizational level, each editorial crew underwent training before carrying out their duties, including material typical reporting in Tribunnews. Every time the editorial crew is also reminded and evaluated. The media policy also supports what the media crew is doing is a strategy to get visitors. They admit to rewarding visitors which in turn will generate revenue. Researchers found the commodification of information in Tribunnews media routines, starting from the stage of gathering, processing and distributing information carried out by reporters, coverage coordinators, editors and level managers in various ways. Commodification of information is also carried out by media organizations, through assignments, internalization and information packaged in SEO-friendly news conducted by the coverage coordinator, management level and directors. Conclusions do not do gatekeeping, especially related to the elements of news and journalistic ethics because the information sent to the editor is often incomplete and ignores the rules of journalism still passed and published in the Tribunnews portal. Tribunnews' Gatekeeping is a process of commodification of information which solely seeks revenue with many visitors.
