Abstract

Leaders in modern organizations had faced more frequent dynamics at the workplace and situation. The use of technology and information change how organization do business, also create new leadership style named as virtual leadership. Virtual leadership changes communication model conducted by leader and employee, most of them prefer using mobile technology for coordination.The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the influence of virtual leadership towards job performance with communication satisfaction and motivating language as intervening variable. In this study, both primary and secondary data were obtained. Secondary data were collected from various sources, such as journals, books and data obtained from the company, while primary data by using questionnaire. To measure the variables, it was used questionnaires distributed to 129 employees working in PT Pertamina (Persero) MOR IV based on purposive sampling method. The techniques of data analysis that used in this study is Partial Least Square using SmartPLS 3.2.8 software to determine the path coefficient, the direct or indirect influence of exogenous variables on endogenous variables. The results showed that virtual leadership has a positive and significant effect towards the communication satisfaction and motivating language, but it is has a negative and not significant to job performance. Communication satisfaction and motivating language also have a positive and significant effect on job performance. In addition, it is shown that communication satisfaction and motivating language proved to mediate the relationship between virtual leadership towards job performance.
