Abstract
This infection is enourmosly sustained by proper environment,self-protective equipment usage, personal higiene and environmental sanitation.Worker who have contact with soil have a great opportunity to be infected by helminthes (worm). The objective of this research was to know the corelation between self-protective equipment usage, personal higiene and work place sanitation with the occurence of STH infection on tile-craftsman at Jelobo Village, Wonosari Sub District, Klaten District. The was an explanatory research with Cross Sectional design. Subject of the research were 156 tile-craftsman. Samples used in the research were 60 out of 156 tile-craftsman taken by Simple Random Sampling Tecnique. Data was analysed using Chi-Square test at 0,05 level of significance. Result of the research showed that the proportion of the occurence of STH infection is 20%.The hookworm has the higtes level of infection (16,7%), followed be Ascaris lumbricoides (3,3%).Proportion of STH infection in great quantities on responden who was not using self-protective equipment (27,5%), respondent with less personal higiene (72,7%),and respondent with less work place sanitation (47,6%). This statistical result indicated, there were significant correlation between self-protective equipment usage (p value=0,047),personal higiene (p value=0,0001),and work place sanitation (p value=0,0001) with the occurence of STH infection. A good implementation of self-protective equipment usage, personal higiene and work place sanitary was many of ways to decrease of STH infection and to break the chain of disease transmission of STH infection.
