The GE-06 International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Agreement made the digital broadcasting become global. Technological change become a ‘new variation’ in the Indonesian digital broadcasting sociocultural evolution process. The inevitability of digital broadcasting makes all television stations, including TVKU, have to implementing digital broadcasting technology in order to maintain their existence in the broadcasting industry. Using the sociocultural evolution theory, this research looks how TVKU adapt to digital broadcasting and also identifies the challenges that present i n it The results shows that TVKU migrated from analog to digital broadcasting technology, as a form of adaptation to the technological changes. Apparently TVKU sees the broadcasting digitization as a ‘need’ in order to improve its broadcasting quality, beside as a necessity. The reason is that TVKU faced with the broadcast quality gaps with national television stations in the analog broadcasting. However, although TVKU’s existence has been confirmed because has migrated, TVKU sees social changes, that caused by digital broadcasting technology, as the other challenges that can still threaten its existence. They are the emergence of many new television stations; new business model; new broadcast management system; new market; lack of people knowledge and participation; and the absence of digital broadcasting regulations. The biggest challenge comes from the regulation that influenced by the huge media conglomerates political economy power in order to maintaining their dominance to the Indonesian broadcasting industry market. In the end TVKU will find it difficult to maintain its existence in digital broadcasting era in the future.
