Abstract
Ningsih, Ayu Khaerudin. 2019. “Expression of Gender Injustice in the Novel Sophismata written by Alanda Kariza: Sociology Literature”. Skripsi (S1) Faculty of Humaniora Diponegoro University Semarang. This study is aimed at expressing gender injustice in the novel Sophismata written by Alanda Kariza. A researcher uses structural theory to know the structure aspect from character, characteristic, plot, plotting, and setting of the story. Continous theory is used to understand the resulting relationship in the story. Literature and Social studies are based on the analysis of gender injustice. The results of the structural analysis of novel Sophismata are there three (3) main characters`s who are connected to development of the plot. Furthermore, there are seven (7) additional figures who help development of the main character's. In terms of location, more focus on the Sigi office and the Bina Graha Building. The time frame for the morning is more talked about. The distribution used in this novel is a progressive flow. The social setting that affects the story is social politics and social education. The analysis of gender injustice by the main character is cause of four (4) factors, namely the marginalization of women, women's subordination, stereotype of women, and violence against women. In the aspect of marginalization, Sigi figures get injustice in terms of not being given the opportunity to develop, get false promises, and Johar uses his power to use Sigi. In the aspect of subordination of women, Sigi figures get gender inequality in terms of their father's authoritarianism and discrimination in the office. In the stereotypical aspect of women, Sigi figures experience gender injustice in terms of labeling the gentle nature of women and the assumption of getting married soon. In the aspect of gender violence, Sigi figures only experience psychological violence, namely terror and accusations from Johar. Keywords: marginalization, subordination, stereotype, sekuen, gender.
