Abstract
Arisman, Mahmud. 2019. "Pragmatic Study of the Tetamba Jampi Manuscript as a source of reference for traditional Javanese medicine". Thesis Bachelor Program in Indonesian Department. Faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro Universiy. supervisor: Dra. Rukiyah, M.Hum., Dra. Mirya Anggrahini, M.Hum. Tetamba Jampi Manuscript will be abbreviated as TJ is a script containing prose text which describes the kinds of traditional medicine. This manuscript is stored in the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (PNRI) Jakarta, with a script code Br.55. This manuscript was written at the time of Brendes (around the 1890s). The theory developed in this study is philology and pragmatics, which it becames the basicset of research work steps, Philology Theory in the form of Inventory of manuscripts, descriptions of manuscripts, manuscript transcriptions, edits and manuscript transcriptions. While pragmatic theory is used to uncover, understand and capture the message contained in the manuscript. The results of the analysis of this study are (1) Philology studies are used to present text edits that are clean of errors. This is to facilitate ordinary readers to learn TJ scripts in Javanese. The text editing method used is the standard method, where errors are edited and justified. (2) Pragmatic craft of TJ manuscripts educates the making of traditional medicines and provides knowledge about plants and their functions (especially spices). Research shows that the benefits of traditional medicine in society can be applied to today's life. Keywords: manuscripts of TJ, philology, pragmatics, traditional medicine.
