PERAN WANITA DALAM RANTAI NILAI KEGIATAN EKONOMI BERBASIS GENDER PILIHAN ANTARA IKAN VS JAGUNG DI KABUPATEN LAMONGAN JAWA TIMUR

Abstract

Blimbing Village is one of villages in Lamongan Regency whose the residents are fishermen, or else work in fisheries affairs. Besides, there is Banyubang Village which is a village in Lamongan Regency of TTP (Food Crop Garden). This village has high yields of maize farming. The role of women in socio-economic activities is a development goal, which concurrently is also a tool for developing strategies to improve the status of their roles. The main objective of this study was to analyze the extent of women's role in choosing the value chain of economic activity; between fish and maize. The method employed to analyze the data collected is qualitative study, which was processed using Atlas TI application. The results of this study showed that the role of women in both sectors plays a significant part in the processing sector because women are considered more skilled in processing fish and maize products. In regards to value-chain, women perform a vital function, except in the process of fishing in the sea. Fishing into the sea has become a major occupation for men in Lamongan Regency. As aforementioned, current research showed that the role of women in both the fisheries and maize farming sectors has a significant role, especially in the processing sector.
