Abstract
The impact of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and hemodialysis therapy (HD) could be a stressor that lowers quality of life. Quality of life could be improved through good health management. Patient health management is controlled by himself through Health Locus of Control (HLOC). This study aims to analyze the relationship between HLOC and quality of life in patients with CKD undergoing HD. This was a correlation analytic research with cross sectional design. There were 124 patients of CKD undergoing HD permitted by a purposive sampling.Data collection used the Multidimensional Health Locus of Control (MHLC) questionnaire and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Statistical analysis used Fisher Exacttest. The results of this study showed the majority of respondents aged 56 to 65 years (seniors final) (51,6%), male gender (of 62.1%), primary school graduates (41,1%), not working (69,4%), and long therapy HD ≥12 months (62,9%). Most of HLOC strong on all orientations, which were Internal Health Locus of Control (IHLC) (n= 118, 95,2%), Powerful Health Locus of Control (PHLC) (n= 104, 83,9%), and Chance Health Locus of Control (CHLC) (n= 67, 54%). The majority of respondents had a poor quality of life (n= 122, 98,4%). Statistical analysis Fisher Exacttestshowed no significant relationship between HLOC orientation (IHLC, PHLC, and CHLC) and quality of life (p= 1,000 p= 1,000 p= 1,000). The conclusion is there was no significant relationship between HLOC and quality of life of patients of CKD undergoing HD. In future study, it expected to investigate the factors that can improve the quality of life of patients CKD undergoing HD with more samples.
