Abstract

Description of the Nurse in the Prevention and Reporting of Needle Stick Injuries (NSIs) in Class III Hospital Semarang Xvii+ 71 page + 7 tables + 2 figures + 15 appendixes Needle Stick and Sharp Injuries (NSIs) are very serious occupational risk to health worker, especialy ners. The incidence of Needle Stick and Sharp Injuriesobjects is occupational health problem worldwide in health care agenciesThe incidence of Needle Stick and Sharp Injuries that occur in the world is aboutn 35 milion health care workers who experience exposure to infectious disease every year, 2,5% of exposure to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and 40% have Hepatitis B and C disease caused by needle stick and sharp injuries.It is estimated that every year 385.000 sryngers and other sharp object related injuries are sustained by health workers at the hospital.The purpose of this study was to determine the description of nurse in the prevention and reporting of Needle Stick and Sharp Injuries (NSIs) on nurse in Semrng hospitals. The result showed that nurses description of prevention and reporting of Needle Stick and Sharp Injuries (NSIs) object with good category is 54,8%, safe injection is good at 80%, good waste disposal is 59,4%, handlers poorly categoriezed Needle Stick and Sharp Injuries (NSIs) 81,8%, and reporting good Needle Stick and Sharp Injuries (NSIs) object is 82,4%. The conclusion of this study is that nurses in the prevention and reporting of Needle Stick and Sharp Injuries (NSIs) object describe good categoriesNurses are expected to be more vigilant in carrying out all nurshing actions toreduce occupational disease, especialy diseases transmited through blood pathogens and other body fluids caused by Needle Stick and Sharp Injuries (NSIs) by not recapping.
