Abstract
Departement of Nursing Faculty of Medicine Diponegoro Univeristy Thesis, July 2019 ABSTRACT Devi Ridha Rossela An Overview of Retention Factor of Nurses in Emergency Room (IGD) and Intersive Care Unit (ICU) on Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital Semarang xvi+ 116 Pages + 11 Tables + 2 Pictures + 32 Attachments. Nurses retention is a process where nurses is encourage to continue working and preserved on the hospital for a certain maximum period. Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital Semarang is one of the private islamic hospital is Semarang, where in the last 4 years there are resignation of IGD and ICU nurses but there is only an addition of staff in 2017. The purpose of this study is to understand the overview of nurses’ retention factor. This study is a descriptive quantitative study using survey approach. The samples are 59 nurses that work in IGD and ICU of Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital Semarang. The study uses questionnaire with 29 questions. The results of this study shows that the overview factor of nurses retention on organizational component variable are considered good by 57,6% nurses, career opportunity variables are considered good by 81,4% nurses, award variable are considered good by 55,9% nurses, task design and jobs are considered good by 50,8%, and staff relationship are considered good by 100% nurses. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the most potential factors for nurse retention are from the award factor and the design of tasks and job. Suggestionsto the Hospital consist of to pay more attention to the system of salaries, application, bonuses, recognition of performance, futhermore freedom in working more improved and workload must be adjusted to abilities and the competencies.
