Abstract

Department of Nursing Faculty of Medicine Diponegoro University June, 2019 ABSTRACT Yulli Diah Dwi Lestari The Relationship between The Level of Sprituality and Coping Stress of Stroke Patients in Kedung Mundu Public Health Center of Semarang xvii + 110 Pages + 14 Tables + 2 Pictures + 16 Attachments Stroke has impacts on physical, psychological, social, cognitive, and economic that can cause stress so, it is necessary to be adaptive to stress. The level of spirituality is one of the things that affect the patient's stroke. Spirituality will be a source of individual strength to face the disease suffered. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of spirituality and coping stress of stroke patients in Kedung Mundu Public Health Center of Semarang. This research is a quantitative descriptive correlative study using a cross-sectional approach. The sampling of this research was used a proportional random sampling method with 115 respondents, through a questionnaire of The Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) and Brief Cope Scale. The bivariate analysis was used Pearson Correlation Product Moment. The results of this study showed the most respondents had a high level of spirituality and score total of average stress coping 83,12. The bivariate analysis was indicated a relationship between the level of spirituality and stress coping of stroke patients in the Kedung Mundu Public Health Center of Semarang with a p value of 0.00 (p<0.05).The correlation strength of 0.425 that shows the medium correlation, the positive direction, shows the higher the level of spirituality hence the use of which will be increasingly adaptive. Eventually, this study shows that it is important to assess aspects of spirituality to optimize coping stress of stroke patients so there are no recurrent strokes.
