Abstract

Resistance of bacteria against some group of antibiotic has become a problem in medical world. Many researches were done to fmd the antibiotics that have activity against resistant bacteria. The oceans are one potential source of bioactive compounds with antibacterial acti vity. Sea Cucumber is one of marine invertebrates that have bioactive compounds and can be used in pharmacy. It has known that sea cucumhers bioactive compounds that can be used as antibacterial, antiviral, antifouling and antiinflammation. The aim of this research was to identify the fraction of Holothuria impatiens extract which have antibacterial activity to Multi Drug Resistant Bacteria and to identify the compound as antibacterial agent. Analysis of samples of sea cucumbers includes extraction, fractionation, and analysis of bacterial sensitivity test Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS), the extraction process is carried out by solid -liquid extraction method (solid-liquid). Fractionation is done with Open Column Chromatography (KKT). Test sensitivity of bacteria using the agar diffusion method according to the Kirby-Bauer. Result showed that the fractination process have 5 fractions, such as fraction I, 11, III, IV, and V. The Third fraction showed antibacterial activity against Enterobacteria strain 10 with diameter of inhibitory zone was 12.19 ± 0.42 mm. The second fraction showed antibacterial activity against Klebsiella sp. with diameter of inhibitory zone was 11.91 ± 0.98 mm. Based on the diameter of inhibitory zone, the second fracti on was selected. GCMS analyzed showed 11 peaks with 6 identified peaks. The identifred compounds were Methyl Butiric Acid, Butanoic Acid, Butyl Glycol Acetat, Benzeneacetic Acid.
