Increased psychological problems such as anxiety due to CKD complications and hemodialysis (HD) are experienced by many patients. Prolonged anxiety can worsen the patient's clinical condition and reduce quality of life. Spiritual therapy like Islamic Based Spiritual Group Therapy is one way to overcome anxiety problems. The therapy whose activities are carried out in groups has a subject matter of the meaningfulness of the patient's life using the Islamic approach. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Islamic Based Spiritual Group Therapy on anxiety in CKD patients who underwent HD. The study design used quasi-experiment with the design of pre and post with control group. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with the number of each control group and intervention of 30 people. Measurement instrument using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). The intervention was carried out for 3 sessions (in 3 weeks) and each session lasted 45 minutes. Before the intervention it was known that the mean value of HARS in the control group was 24.27 and intervention was 24.34. While after treatment, the control group 23.70 and intervention 16.48. The results of the statistical test using the Independent T-Test showed that there were differences in anxiety levels in the control and intervention groups at the post test with a value of p = 0,000 with a decrease of ∑ 7,22 from the initial value. Based on these results it was concluded that Islamic Based Spiritual Group Therapy proved effective in reducing anxiety levels in CKD patients who underwent HD. This therapy can be used as an independent nursing intervention in reducing anxiety levels in CKD patients who undergoing HD.
