Abstract
The Effects of Proctor Model’s Clinical Supervision on Nursing Assessment Abilities xix+104 pages+7 tables+4 charts+12 appendixes Nursing assessment is an activity in evaluating and identifying the health status of client, thus nurses are required to conduct nursing care assessment with data criteria that are complete, systematic, using format, actual and valid. A complete value of documentation for nursing assessment according to previous research was under 70%. The factor that causes this is the ability of nurses in carrying out nursing assessment that are still lacking. Clinical supervision can facilitate nurses to improve their ability in conducting nursing assessment. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of Proctor model clinical supervision on the ability nurses in conducting proper nursing care assessment. This study was a quantitative study with quasi experimental pre-post test control group design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample of 68 staff nurses. The staff nurses were observed of their ability in conducting nursing care assessment, data was analyzed using Mann Whitney test. The results showed the effects of proctor model’s clinical supervision on the nurses ability in conducting nursing care assessment with p value of (p=0,000). Normative functions focus on monitoring and evaluation, formative functions focus on developing knowledge and skills and restorative functions focus on support and motivation. Thus, the proctor model clinical supervision could be applied as one of the solutions to improve the ability of nurses in conducting nursing care assessment.
