This study discusses the unsustainability of expressions and functions in the song lyrics of Iwan Fals 'best of the best album in 2000. The purpose of this study is to (a) describe the meaning or function and function of the song lyrics of Iwan Fals' best of the best album in 2000, which is unsustainable expression caused by substitution of meaning (b) deviation of meaning (c) creation of meaning, and (d) function of the continuity of expression or language. The approach used in this study is the stylistic approach using qualitative methods. The data source used in this study is the song lyrics of Iwan Fals' best of the best album in 2000. The song lyrics analyzed were 20 song titles. The technique used in this study is documentation techniques. Then to analyze the data of this study carried out with data collection techniques, data classification techniques, and the techniques of presenting the results of data analysis. Based on the results of the study, the continuity of expressions and functions contained in the song lyrics of Iwan Fals' best of the best album in 2000 were based on (a) substitution of meanings: metaphor, simile, litotes, personification, and sinekdoke (in the form of pro-toto and totem to ), (b) deviations of meaning: ambiguity, contradiction (in the form of antithesis, paradox, hyperbole, irony, and euphemism), and nonsense, (c) creation of meaning: private symbols (in the form of abstract categories, universe, energy, stretches) bound to the earth, substances that can melt, flora, fauna, and humans). Point: unsustainable expressions, functional language function, song lyrics, and stylistics
