Abstract

ABSTRACT Lathifah, Fida Nurrany. 2019. “Sufiks ~gatai dalam Kalimat Bahasa Jepang (Perbandingan dengan Sufiks ~nikui dan ~zurai)”. Thesis. Departement of Japanese Languange and Culture, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The Advisor: Lina Rosliana, S.S., M.Hum. The aim of this research is to describe the structure and meaning of suffix ~gatai. Furthermore, this reseacrh also to describe the possibilities suffix ~gatai could be subtituted with suffix ~nikui and ~zurai. The data which being used are obtained from the website and online news articles. The data were collected by observation method and writing technique. Then for data analysis using agih method. The results of the analysis is presented by informal method which explained with simple words. Based on the results of the analysis, suffix ~gatai can be attached to 3 categories of verbs (1) kanyouku or idiom, (2) ninshiki or cognitive verbs, and (3) hatsugen or verbal verbs. There are 2 meanings that contain of suffix ~gatai in japanese sentences, (1) cannot be realized or it is impossible for something to happen, and (2) not accepting an agreement. Moreover, the results of substitution is (1) suffix ~gatai attached to kanyouku cannot be replaced with suffixes ~nikui and ~zurai, (2) suffix ~gatai that attached with ninshiki except ‘wasureru’ verb and ‘shinjiru’ verb can be replaced with suffixes ~nikui and ~zurai but has different nuance in the sentence, (3) suffix ~gatai that attached with hatsugen can be replaced with suffixes ~nikui and ~zurai but has different nuance in the sentence.
