Abstract

Department of Nursing Faculty of Medicine Diponegoro University May 2019 ABSTRACK Noviana Rohmah The Description of safety riding of Vigilance in Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers in Tembalang, Semarang xvii + 157 pages + 11 tables + 3 figures + 9 appendixes Background : Traffuc accident are health problem that tend to be high every year. Vigilance is the main factor that can prevent accidents and ensure safety for both the driver and the passenger. One of the tasks of occupational health nurses is to coordinate and supervise the implementation of vigilance in the work area. However, limited studies regarding the vigilance for online motorcycle taxi drivers. Aim : The aimed of this study is to describe the level of vigilance found in online motorcycle taxi driver. Methods : A descriptive survey research design was utilized, that used Situational Awareness (SA) Questionnaire. The population in this study was online motorcycle taxi drivers in Tembalang, Semarang area. The sample size in this study was 290 online motorcycle taxi drivers taken by accidental sampling. Statistical analysis used univariat analysis and presented in frequency distribution table. Result : Results of this study showed that 142 respondents (49%) had a low vigilance level, 117 respondents (40,3%) had a fairly good vigilance level and 31 respondents (10,7%) had a good vigilance level. The components of low vigilance are showed among others in the search for sensations, speed selection, driving behavior that violates the rules. Conclusion : It can be concluded that the vigilance in online motorcycle taxi drivers were still not good. Based on the result of this study, it is recommended that occupational health nurses increase vigilance of drivers by providing education and promoting driving awareness in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Police.
