Abstract

MUHAMMAD TRIA SAPUTRA. "Inner Conflict of the Main Figures in the Ngenest Novel by Ernest Prakasa". Essay. Semarang: Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, 2019. The material object in this study is the Ngenest novel by Ernest Prekasa which was released on December 30, 2015. The research method used was qualitative based on literature using the note-taking technique. The analysis phase is carried out using structural theory and literary psychological theory which focuses on Sigmund Freud's personality theory which includes id, ego, and superogo. The objectives of this study are: (1) to explain the structure of the Ngenest novel by Ernest Prakasa, (2) to explain the conflict of the main character in the Ngenest novel by Ernest Prakasa. The results of the Ngenest novel analysis were Ernest's unbalanced personality structure. This can be seen from the ego that Ernest has so prominently towards the id. Ego who cannot control or filter good or bad, or not in Ernest's personality causes an imbalance of personality to Ernest's figure, and from the analysis shows that the main character experiences inner conflict. The internal and external conflicts that cause the personality of the main character to be unbalanced in the Ngenest novels include: (1) fighting with classmates so they are no longer bullied, by practicing the skills they learned in the dojo, (2) overconfident expressing love to the idol girl, but apparently the idol turned out to have returned to her boyfriend (3) conflict with the kindergarten teacher, which affected Sky's departure from school, (4) conflict with the STM child when Ernest was bullied on the bus. Keywords: Psychology inner conflicts, ngenes, ethnicities.
