Abstract
Background : The movement of abdominal organs because a breath on MRI examination of abdomen causes the motion artifacts that reduce image quality. The protocol of MRI abdomen to reduce motion artifacts from respiration using respiratory gating but the results of scan time so longer. The PROPELLER is a technique to filling a data matrix radially using the value of a blade coveragebe able to reduce artifacts. Objective : Assasing the used of PROPELLER on MRI abdomen to reduce a motion artifacts, to get an anatomical information and the quality of image with the fast scan time. Research Method: The type of this research is experimental research with the one group of post test design. The sample in this research abaout 8 sample, an each sample received 8 treatments. One treatment used respiratory gating as a standard protocol and 7 treatment applied by PROPELLER used coverage blade variations of 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 175% and 200%. The assessment includes anatomical information, SNR, CNR, artifacts and scan time. Statistical a data analysis used the Kruskal Wallis test and the Wilcoxon test. The Results: There are differences in scan time, artifact, SNR, and CNR between images MRI abdomen using respiratory gating compared the PROPELLER on blade coverage 100%. The Conclusion: The using of PROPELLER with a value of blade coverage 100% is able to reduce the motion artifacts so to produce anatomical information and quality image with the fast scanning time. Keywords: MRI Abdomen, Motion Artifact, PROPELLER, Respiratory Gating.
