Abstract

The north coast of Central Java is one of the most vulnerable regions to climate change in Indonesia (Marfai, 2011; Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, 2009). Various activities in coastal area also lead to the growth of informal sector that closely related to the growing number of poor people in coastal area. However, permanent migration has not yet been an option for adaptation in dealing with environmental hazard in Java (Handayani, et al., 2015). Therefore, the loss of livelihood and community assets trigger the awareness of stakeholder to help people through Community-based Adaptation (CBA) in Semarang coastal area. CBA is seen as a tailor made approach that can increase people adaptive capacity because local people are more knowledgeable of their local situation
