Abstract
Moving vehicles require an antenna tocommunicate which is placed on the vehicles and atthe ground station (ground control station, GCS).Generally, GCS uses a directional antenna equippedwith the drive system with the conventionalproportional, proportional-integral, or proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control, and step-trackingalgorithms based on the received signal strengthindicator (RSSI). This research used PID controlmethod tuned with fuzzy logic based on GlobalPositioning System (GPS) to control a directionalantenna at GCS. The resulting antenna tracker systemwas capable of tracking objects with a minimal errorof 0° at azimuth and elevation angle and had amaximal error of 49° for a 49 km/hour speed object.The system had an average rise time of 0.7 seconds atan azimuth angle and 1.08 seconds at an elevationangle. This system can be used to control antennadirection for moving vehicles, such as an unmannedaerial vehicle (UAV) and rocket.
