Abstract

ABSTRACT Analysis the Effect of Flow Rate Variations on NaCl Solutions in the Smoke Control Room at SO42- Level on Portable Waste Burners Incineration is an alternative choice for waste management. The process of incineration requires the help of a incinerator. The problem that can occur in incineration is the smoke from combustion that causes air pollution. Incineration using a incinerator oxidation products will be produced, including in the form of exhaust gas, especially if incomplete combustion. Toxic air can emerge from such garbage burners such as CO, NOx, SOx. One of the harmful gas emissions from combustion is acidic SOx (SO2 and SO3). SOx is the biggest source of environmental pollution and can cause pollution and environmental damage. Therefore, a incinerator needs to be equipped with a smoke control room. The smoke control room used in principle is the same as the wet scrubber. The smoke control room requires absorbents to remove pollutants in the burning smoke. To be able to bind acidic compounds, basic compounds are needed as absorbents such as NaClO. Total SO2 absorbed by scrubbing solution is in the form of dissolved SO2, namely HSO3 -, SO32-, and SO42 -. HSO3 - and SO42 - are present in sufficient quantities in the liquid phase. In this study, the sulfate content in the NaClO solution was contacted with smoke. In addition, a study of the effect of flow rate of NaClO solution on the sulfate content of the removal results was carried out. There are 5 variations of flow rate used, including 60 ml/s; 62,50 ml /s; 70 ml /s; 72,50 ml/s and 75 ml/s. Keywords : Incineration, Incinerator, Wet scrubber, SO2, NaClO, SO42-, Variation of flow rate
