Abstract

This study discusses the power relation in the women’s confession of her non-virginity to their man. Women were in the dilemma situation when they have to confess about their non-virginity. For the reason that consequences and possible reaction from their men and also their men’s power to judge. The purpose of this study is to describe how the power relation flows in the women’s confession of her non-virginity to their man. Paradigm of this study is Critical Constructivism, and using narrative analysis from Tzvetan Todorov modified by Nick Lacey. This study using Self Confession Theory from Michel Foucault to describe power relation in the women’s confession of her non-virginity to their man. The result of this study shows that power relations berame stronger when teh women’s doing their confession to them. The power involve status guarantee, status, financial, and also discipline or agreement in continuation oh the relationship. Confession as a sexual control is not giving effective impact. People tend to premarital sexual intercourse again after having their first sexual intercourse. Other than that, man’s power as significant other became stronger after sexual intercourse. Power relation macanism shows that non-virginity confession as a sexual discourse expand to the knowladge, financial, and status. This leads to discipline which makes man have the power to regulate the body of the women. Acceptance brings along things that are inherent to the partner such as financial or narrative of comfort that women get to their men. Key
