Abstract

ABSTRACT Nz, Minna Audy Ameliann, 2019. Makna Semiotik dalam Cerpen Yakeato no Okashi no Ki Karya Nosaka Akiyuki. Thesis, Department of Japanese Language and Culture, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. Thesis Advisors: Yuliani Rahmah, S.Pd., M.Hum and Arsi Widiandari, S.Hum., M.Si. This research is conducted to grasp the meaning of semiotic signs in short story written by Nosaka Akiyuki entitled Yakeato no Okashi no Ki and identify the signs using Charles Sanders Peirce’s triadic system. The method used in this research is library research. The data found in Yakeato no Okashi no Ki are analysed using semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Peirce. It is concluded that there are ten semiotic signs in Yakeato no Okashi no Ki. Based on Peirce’s first triadic in his theory of sign, there are 5 icons, 3 indices, and 2 symbols found in this short story. Based on the second triadic, there are 4 qualisigns, 4 sinsigns, and 2 legisigns. Based on the third triadic, there are 5 rhemes, 3 dicisigns, and 2 arguments.
