Gambaran Kualitas Tidur Pada Pasien Congestive Heart Failure di RSUD Tugurejo Semarang

Abstract

Sleep quality is the ability of every individual to maintain his/her sleep and to obtain stages of sleep: REM and NREM sleep cycles according to their need. Amongst patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), it is found a problem related to heart’s inadequacy to maintain bloods circulation which causes edema, foments dyspnea (Paroxysmal Nocturnal Dyspnea) leading tolethargy which eventually causes sleep deprivation and difficulty in maintaining a good sleep. A continuing inadequate sleep shall worsen every existing diseases. The purpose of this research is to uncover a broad description of sleep quality of patients with CHF. This research is a descriptive quantitative survey research. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The technique used in the study is purposive sampling.The population for this study are 116 inpatients with CHF in Tugurejo Regional General Hospital Semarang.The majority of CHF patients have terrible sleep quality (62.1%). The results clearly show that the majority of the patients with CHF have relatively terrible subjective sleep quality (43.1%), inefficient sleep cycles (76.3%), CHF patients with 5-6 hours of sleep (56.9%), a fairly bad sleep latency (53.1%), consuming sleeping pills with <1 a week (52.6%), average sleep disorders (49.1%), and daylight dysfunction (36.2%). Researcher suggests that nurses ought to facilitate and to improve the sleep quality of inpatients suffering from CHF when they are being given inpatient care during their stay in the hospital.
