Advisor: Drs. M. Hermintoyo, M.Pd., Drs. Mujid F. Amin, M.Pd. This study discusses the language acquisition of mentally retarded children in school. The purpose of this study is to explain the acquisition of language and vocabulary and the sentence structure used by mentally retarded children in Jepara State SLB. This type of research is quantitative and qualitative, which contains an overview of the acquisition of children's language and the presentation of vocabulary and sentence structure used by mentally retarded children. The data collection method used in this study is the observation method. The techniques used in this study are basic tapping techniques, skillful listening techniques, and advanced recording techniques and notes. The population in this study were mentally retarded, embryonic and class V idiot children in Jepara State SLB. The results of the analysis of the acquisition of the language of mentally retarded children are 1) In the acquisition of language that includes the understanding of images, meanings, and compilation of sentences of debilitated children get a value of 91.2 which can be interpreted as capable of educating, embical children with an average value of 71.6 which means being able to train, and mentally retarded children get an average score of 22.49 which means they are only able to take care. 2) Mentally retarded children are only able to master the basic noun vocabulary, and the sentence structure used is a single sentence.
