Abstract

ABSTRACT Kumalasari, Ratna. 2018. “Semantic Message on Okinawan Proverbs and Indonesian Proverbs”. Thesis. Department of Japanese Studies. Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The first advisor is Dr. M. Suryadi, M.Hum., and Reny Wiyatasari, S.S., M.Hum. as second advisor. This thesis includes semantic messages on Okinawan proverbs and Indonesian proverbs that have same lexicons on animal field of meaning, those are horse, fish, dog, and turtle; and lexicons on nature field of meaning, those are tree, rain, island, and fruit. Furthermore, semantic change on this thesis are generalization and specification meaning were chosen. Also, to know deeper about lexicon formation process is to recognize how those lexicon change into phrases, clauses, then become a sentences that could be classified as proverbs. The method used in this thesis is connect-compare. and divided into three phases, data collecting, data analysis, and conclusion. Data collection in this thesis are from website such as hougen.ajima.com website, with supported theories gathered from books that related with this thesis.
