Abstract

RINGKASAN Pepaya merupakan salah satu buah tropika unggulan yang sangat potensial untuk dikembangkan di Indonesia. Pengembangan pepaya memerlukan ketersediaan benih secara berkesinambungan, sebab peremajaan tanaman selalu diperlukan untuk mendapatkan produksi yang baik. Pepaya merupakan tanaman dari suku Caricaceae dengan Marga Carica. Marga ini memiliki kurang lebih 40 spesies, tetapi yang dapat dikonsumsi hanya tuju h spesies, diantaranya Carica papaya L. Tanaman pepaya banyak sekali manfaatnya seperti buah dan daunnya. Namun bagian dari pepaya yakni berupa daunnya belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal, padahal jika diolah lebih lanjut dapat memiliki nilai jual yang tinggi. Penelitian kali ini mencoba mengisolasi daun pepaya dengan cara ekstraksi untuk diambil klorofilnya. Ekstraksi dilakukan dengan menggunakan pelarut berupa metanol selama 2 jam 5 menit dengan pengambilan sampel selama 25 menit sekali. Perbandingan antara solute dan solvent yang digunakan yakni 1:1,1 pada temperatur 50 0 C. Berdasarkan penelitian tersebut diperoleh waktu yang paling optimal untuk pengambilan sampel yakni pada menit ke 75 dengan kadar klorofil tertinggi yakni sebesar 0,4535 mg/L. Kata Kunci : pepaya, klorofil, ekstraksi ABSTRACT Papaya is one of the prime tropical fruit that is very potential to be developed in Indonesia. The development of papaya requires the availability of seeds continuously, because plant rejuvenation is always required to obtain good production. Papaya is a plant of the Caricaceae tribe with Marga Carica. This genus has approximately 40 species, but which can be consumed only seven species, including Carica papaya L. Papaya plants are many benefits such as fruits and leaves. However, part of papaya that is in the form of leaves have not been utilized maximally, but if processed further can have high selling value. The present study attempted to isolate papaya leaves by extracting them for chlorophyll. Extr action was performed by using a methanol solvent for 2 hours 5 minutes with sampling for 25 minutes. The comparison between solute and solvent used is 1: 1,1 at 500C. Based on this research obtained the most optimal time for sampling that is at minute 75 with the highest chlorophyll level that is equal to 0,4535 mg / L. Keywords: papaya, chlorophyll, extraction
