Abstract
Kata kunci: bahan kering , bahan organik, silase, rumput Gajah, umur potong, aditif ABSTRACT A research was conducted to determine dry matter (DM) and organic matter (OM) loss of Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) during ensilage at different age of defoliation and level of additive. The grass was defoliated at 40, 60 and 80 days (P4, P6 and P8) as factor I. The additive substance was refined rice bran that was included at levels of 0; 2.5; 5 and 7.5% w/w (D0, D1, D2 and D3) respectively as factor II. Research was designed in completely randomized design with factorial pattern of 3x4 with 3 replications. Data were analyzed by variance analysis at 5%. The results of the research showed that age of defoliation and level of additive had significant influence (P<0.05) on DM/OM loss of silage, but there were no interactive effect between age of defoliation and level of additive on DM/OM loss of silage. Age of defoliation had no significant effect on DM loss; on the contrary, age of defoliation had significant influence (P<0.05) on OM loss. Level of additive had significant influence (P<0.05) on DM/OM loss of silage. Keywords : dry matter, organic matter, silage, Napier grass, cutting age, additive
