Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh lama penyimpanan dan aras penambahan dedak padi terhadap jumlah total bakteri, bakteri pembentuk asam, dan fungi pada sisa susu dari peralatan unit pendingin susu sebagai starter silase. Materi penelitian berupa sisa susu dari peralatan unit pendingin susu dan dedak padi. Penelitian disusun dalam rancangan acak lengkap berpola faktorial 4x3 dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama (A) adalah lama penyimpanan, yaitu penyimpanan 2 hari (A1), 4 hari (A2), dan 6 hari (A3). Faktor kedua (B) adalah aras penambahan dedak padi yaitu 0% dedak padi + 100% sisa susu dari peralatan unit pendingin susu (B0), 5% dedak padi + 95% sisa susu dari peralatan unit pendingin susu (B1), 10% dedak padi + 90% sisa susu dari peralatan unit pendingin susu (B2), dan 15% dedak padi + 85% sisa susu dari peralatan unit pendingin susu (B3). Parameter yang diamati adalah jumlah total bakteri, total bakteri pembentuk asam, dan total fungi. Perhitungan jumlah mikrobia menggunakan metode hitungan cawan tuang (”pour plate count”). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi faktor lama penyimpanan dengan aras penambahan dedak padi memberikan pengaruh nyata (p<0,05) terhadap jumlah total bakteri, bakteri pembentuk asam, dan fungi. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah lama penyimpanan dan penambahan aras dedak padi dapat meningkatkan jumlah total bakteri dan bakteri pembentuk asam pada sisa susu dari peralatan unit pendingin susu sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai starter silase. Kata kunci: sisa susu, unit pendingin susu, mikroba, starter silase ABSTRACT The research was conducted to determine the effect of storage time and level of rice bran addition on the number of total bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, and fungi of wasted milk from milk cooling unit equipment for silage starter. Residual milk cooling unit equipment and rice bran were used as the material of this research. The design of this research was the randomized completely design with factorial model for 4x3 in 3 repetitions. The treatments applied were storage time and the level of rice bran addition as fixed factors. Factor of storage time were 2 days (A1), 4 days (A2), and 6 days (A3). The factor of rice bran addition level were 0% rice bran + 100% wasted milk from milk cooling unit equipment (B0), 5% rice bran + 95% wasted milk from milk cooling unit equipment (B1), 10% rice bran + 90% wasted milk from milk cooling unit equipment (B2), and 15% rice bran + 85% wasted milk from milk cooling unit equipment (B3). The parameter on this research was the number of total bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, and fungi. Pour plate count method was used to count the parameter.The effect of interaction between storage time and the level of rice bran addition significantly (p<0.05) increased the number of total bacteria and lactic acid bacteria on wasted milk from milk cooling unit equipment, while the number of fungi was decreased. From this research, it can be concluded that residual milk cooling unit equipment can be used as silage starter. Keywords: residual milk, cooling unit, microbes, silage starter
