Abstract

ABSTRACT Carismayani, One Riska Debby, 2018. “Iconicity Representation of Doraemon Character in Anime 2112 Nen Doraemon Tanjyou a Study of Semiotic”, Thesis, Japanese Literature, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Advisor Fajria Noviana, S.S., M.Hum. This research aims to explain about the iconicity and iconicity means of Doraemon character in the anime entitled 2112 Nen Doraemon Tanjyou by Yonetani Yoshimoto. This anime tells about the creation of Doraemon’s character from its creator, Fujiko F. Fujio. This robot cat was mass produced in 2112. This robot has had a little damage and hasn’t had a good standard quality. The method used in this research is literature study. The theory used in this research is narrative structure theory, such as its stories and plots, its pattern of narrative structure, its characters, and the relation between its space and time. The semiotic theory was used to reveal the iconicity of Doraemon character in anime 2112 Nen Doraemon Tanjyou. The result shows that Doraemon is the main character of this anime. Noramyako, Sewashi, Dorami, Sunekichi, Jaibee, the Headmaster, and Fujiko F. Fujio herself are the additional characters. The event experienced by a Doraemon character in the anime shows that there are six iconicity whom include the iconicity of colors, shapes, dimension, movements, and sound. From the analysis carried out on these iconicities, can be known the implied meanings in this anime lead to a message, that is not to give up easily and desperate.
