Abstract

Natural carotenoids production from microalgae are not yet competitive with their synthetic levels. protoplast fusion was found to be an efficient method in improving carotenoid production and diversification from fusant of carotenogenic microalgae D. salina and C. vulgaris. Almost all of the fusant obtained increasing of carotenoid production after the process. Dominant characterization need further to identify the dominant parental genome on fusant using 18SrRNA primer from Dunaliella and Chlorella. the research was carried out by analyzing amplification of the gene encodes for 18SrRNA of fusant obtained from protoplast fusion between D. salina and C. vulgaris using both parental. the result indicated that the Chlorella more dominant in fusant comparing to Dunaliella according to 18 SrRNA gene amplification result on fusant and parental
