Abstract
Employment is an important aspect for the Indonesia’s economy. One of the employment problem is unemployment. This research aims to analyze the effect of population, education, minimum wage, and Gross Domestic Regional Product (GDRP) on the visible unemployment rate in the Province of Central Java. This research use secondary data. The analytical method used in this study is panel data regression. Panel data is a combination of cross section data that includes 35 Districts/Cities of Central Java and time series data from 2010 until 2015. The results showed that Fixed Effects Model (FEM) is the most appropriate. Based on regression results of this research show that the number of population gives positive and significant effect for the visible unemployment rate. While education, minimum wage, and GDRP give negative and significant effect for the rate of visible unemployment. Based on simultaneous test, the number of population, education, minimum wage, and GDRP simultaneously have an impact on the visible unemployment rate.
