Employee retention is a strategic opportunity in many organizations to maintain and retain employees, especially potential employees. The goal is to build sustainable competitive advantage. Resource-based view theory explains this and says that competitive advantage is built through effective management of employees. Talent management as employee management has a strategic role in retaining employees, at once building employee engagement. This study aims to analyze the influence of talent management on employee retention through employee engagement as a mediating variable. This research was conducted at the largest technology-based company in Indonesia, PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk. Regional IV Jateng & DIY with a total sample of 121 employees from a total of 174 employees. This research method is quantitative and the data collection method used is purposive sampling. Data is processed using SPSS 23 with path analysis and multiple linear regression methods. Data analysis was carried out including validity test, reliability test, classic assumption test, t test, F test, determination coefficient test, and also sobel test and baron-kenny test to find out the mediation effect. As a result, talent management has a positive and significant effect on employee retention, talent management has a positive and significant effect on employee engagement, employee engagement has a positive and significant influence on employee retention, and employee engagement successfully mediates the relationship between talent management and employee retention.
