Abstract
Gunung Merapi memiliki sejarah panjang dan karakteristik pola letusan efusif-eksplosif tiap 100 tahun. Abad 21 berada pada pola eksplosif dan hal tersebut terbukti dari peristiwa erupsi 2010 dimana indeks letusan gunung berapi mencapai skala 4 atau sangat tinggi . Erupsi eksplosif tersebut merupakan letusan terbesar sejak tahun 1872. Di Kabupaten Boyolali, terdapat sepuluh korban jiwa akibat hujan abu dan hingga 60.000 orang mengungsi.
