Abstract

Puspitasari, Chandra Dewi Shelli. 2018. "Code Mixing and Code Switching in the Learning Process by Class X Science Teachers: Case Study in Taruna Nusantara High School". Thesis. Indonesian Literature Graduate Programme, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Supervisors: (1) Drs. Ary Setyadi, M.S. and (2) Dra. Sri Puji, M.Pd. This study aims to determine the form of code switching, code mixing and the causal factors that occur in the learning processes by class X science teachers at Taruna Nusantara High School. The theory and the method uses SPEAKING and descriptive qualitative. The object of the study is the grade X science teachers in the fields of Biology, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. The researcher uses data recognition techniques (observations), then the referencing method namely tapping technique, skillful free listening techniques, and recording techniques. The analysis technique uses the method equivalent. Results are presented in informal methods. The result analysis of this study are found 32 data, 24 data as the code mixing forms and 8 data as the code switching forms. In the mixing code forms are found interfering internal code (code mixing into) and external code mixing (mixed code out) as the word, phrase, word repetition, clause, and idiom forms. Causal factors include attitudinal type of speaker background, showing learning, and less difference in language. The form of code switching is found from internal code switching (in code switching). The factors that cause code switching are speaker factors, opposing speech factors, sense of humor factors, and the presence of a third person.
