Abstract

ABSTRACT Mipha Andini Aprilia, 2018. “Hallucinations of Main Character Harumi Hagiyo in the film Roommate Director by Takeshi Furusawa”, Thesis, Japanese Language and Culture, Diponegoro University, Semarang. The Advisor I Budi Mulyadi S.Pd., M.Hum and Advisor II Arsi Widiandari, S.S., M.Si. The object of study in this research in the form of film with the title Roommate who directed by Takeshi Furusawa and adapted from the novel by Aya Imamura. The method used to obtain the data using the library research. This thesis discusses the hallucinations experienced by the main character in the film Roommate. The research of this thesis uses narrative film theory and the concept of Stuart's hallucinations. This research has several narrative film structures, namely element of narrative which include storytellers, narrative relation with space, narrative relation with time, problems and conflicts. Continued by analyze the main character, the hallucination experienced of Hagiyo Harumi in the film Roommate. The results showed that Hagiyo Harumi are the main character in this film. Nishimura Reiko and Mari are additional characters. Harumi's house, Harumi's apartment, Ariadne bar, hospital, and restaurant are the place space in this film. Hallucinations experienced by Harumi are visual hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, taste hallucinations, and touch hallucinations. The cause of hallucinations was because of Harumi's relationship with a family that was not good.
