Abstract
Breast milk is the first food for newborns and serves as the main nutrient for all infants. The prevalence of globally exclusive breastfeeding has not yet reached the target of 80%. Based on data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia the coverage of Exclusive Breast Milk in Semarang in 2016 was around 67.16%. One occupational factor causes a lack of maternal skills in exclusive breastfeeding. Therefore it is necessary to do health education related to lactation management of working mothers. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there are effect of health education on lactation management by using booklets on the skills of working mothers in the practice of breastfeeding to infants ages 0-6 months. The present research described a pre-experimental method with research design employed was one group pretest-posttest design. The population was working mothers breastfeed infants aged 0-6 months in the working area of Pudak Payung Public Health Center, Semarang. The samples were 32 mothers who were recruited by using total sampling technique. This results showed that there were effect of health education intervention about lactation management on the skills of working mothers in the practice of breastfeeding infants 0-6 months T-test with a p-value of 0.000. The study was expected to bring feedback and additional information to Public Health Center to provide information to working mothers breastfeeding onfant related to lactation management of working mothers and monitoring breastfeeding practice in working mothers.
