Abstract

Sofuroh, Faidah Umu. 2018. Readers Reception of Webcomic in LINE Webtoon. Final Project, Indonesian literature departement, Bachelor Degree, Faculty of Humanity Diponegoro University. Semarang. Adviser I: Dr. Redyanto Noor, M.Hum. Adviser II: Khothibul Umam, S.S., M.Hum. This research study about readers response of webcomic in LINE Webtoon application. This research study concerning the reality of motives and benefits of reading webcomic in LINE Webtoon. The material object of this research study is LINE Webtoon readers with population is 11th grade students of Senior High School 1 Purbalingga. From that population, 40 students have taken data with random sampling techniques. The purpose of this research is to reveal the motives and benefits of reading webcomic in LINE Webtoon. To achieve that goal, the theory of reception of literature was used. The result of this research study are presented in the form of narrative texts, percentage table and diagram to simplify the reading result. In short, the result of motives of reading webcomic in LINE Webtoon is 82,5 % fill the free time, 47,5 % looking for entertainment, 5 % social media, and 17,5 % follow friends While the result of benefits of reading webcomic in LINE Webtoon is 95 % feeling happy/consoled, 7,5 % increase the society, 32,5 % increase the experience/knowledge, and 2,5 % increase the confidence. Beside the motives and benefits, some impact experienced by the readers after reading webcomic in LINE Webtoon explained too.
