Abstract

Puspitasari, Gita. 2018. “Term in Jam Janeng Art Songs: A Linguistic Anthropology Study”. Thesis. Undergraduate Program in Indonesian Literature. Semarang. Faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro University. Thesis Advisor: Dr. Suyanto, M. Si. and Drs. Suharyo, M. Hum. This study aims (1) describe the lingual form and meaning of the term in Jam Janeng art songs (2) describe Jam Janeng art songs seen from linguistic anthropology views (3) describe the patterns of language usage of Jam Janeng art song lyrics. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive research. The research sites are in Wonotirto and Karangsambung villages. The forms of the data are oral data and written data. Sources of data, which are verbal and written data, are taken from Jam Janeng art. The analytical method is distributional method and matching method. The results of the analysis show that (1) there are 27 term in Jam Janeng songs; the lingual forms of the term in Jam Janeng songs is words and phrases and have cultural and lexical meanings. (2) Three fields of linguistic anthropology study in Jam Janeng songs are performance, indexicality, and participation. The performance in the Jam Janeng song is a kind of selawat. Indexicality on Jam Janeng songs is the meaning of the songs, which shows the goodness of Islam and the stories of prophet songs, and the Jam Janeng songwriting in accordance with the pronunciation of the local community. Participation in the Jam Janeng art song is seen from the existing phenomenon which is the share of resources. (3) The pattern of language usage of Jam Janeng art song lyrics is seen from Sawuran and its subordinates which are the eight patterns namely Arabic - Arabic; Arabic - Arabic and Javanese; Arabic - Arabic, Javanese, and Indonesian; Arabic - Javanese; Arabic - Javanese and Indonesian; Arabic and Javanese - Javanese; Javanese - Javanese; and Javanese - Javanese and Indonesian.
