Abstract

Mortality of women with cervical cancer in Indonesia is still high. One of the factors causing the high cervical cancer is the lack of knowledge of women about cervical cancer. Cervical cancer isa disease affecting the cervix of women who have ever had sexual intercourse.The provision of health education to women of childbearing age health will improve knowledge about cervical cancer from the definition, causes, sign and simton, risk factors, classification stage, effects, prevention, early detection and treatment of cervical cancer, so women of childbearing age can add new knowledge and to apply in everyday life in order to maintain a healthier lifestyle. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of health education on cervical cancer in women of fertile age in the Village of West Ungaran Bandarjo using leaflets media. The research design was quasi experiment with the approach of The One-group pretest-posttest design without the use of a control group. Samples were taken using a technique purposive sampling the number of respondents 50 women of childbearing age. Data were analyzed by Wilcoxon test and get p value = 0.000<0.05, The results showed no increased knowledge of women of childbearing age during pre-test and post-test. It is recommended that women of childbearing age can increase knowledge about cervical cancer in daily life. Keywords: Cervical Cancer, Health Education, Awareness, Women of fertile age.
