The administration of sedation and analgesics, the condition of the ICU with a lamp that always lights up 24 hours and a cold temperature, made the patient getting sleep disturbances, hence caused of delirium. A study stated, critical pasien of delirium in ICU percentagewise at 11-87%. One function of nurses to deal with delirium was to assess delirium. Confusion Assessment Method for ICU (CAM-ICU) was one of the most valid and reliable instruments for delirium research. The purpose of this study was to describe the perception of ICU nurses about understanding the delirium assessment instrument: Confusion Assessment Methods for ICU (CAM-ICU). The type of this research was quantitative, which using a descriptive design including a survey approach. The sampling technique used total sampling with a sample of 71 respondents using a neutral questionnaire regarding CAM-ICU understanding. The results of this research were ICU nurses who perceived that the Delirium Assessment Instrument: Measurement Method Confusion for ICU (CAM-ICU) was easy to understand by 42 respondents (59.2%), while 29 people (40, 8 %) others were perception that it was difficult to understand. Look at the reference points on the CAM-ICU less easily understood in Feature 1: / mental status fluctuations, Feature 3: the level of awareness of the patient (conscious / alert to coma) using RASS or SAS and interpretation of the presence / absence of delirium. Suggestions that can given are introducing delirium, RASS, and SAS to students and nurses. Keywords: ICU nurse, Delirium, CAM-ICU Bibliography: (2001-2018)
