Abstract

Video log (vlog) is a video containing opinions, stories or daily activities that are usually written on blogs that are currently in great demand and watched by the general public through social media youtube. In addition to being a vlog entertainment gives effect to the audience. One of the vlogs that gives a negative effect because the impoliteness of the vlog in the channel Karin Novilda or Awkarin "#KVLOG" in youtube. This study aims to identify and analyze the form of impoliteness as well as identify the factors causing impoliteness in Awkarin’s vlog. The methods used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. At the phases of data collection, the authors use the scrutinized method with the download the video first, and continued with the technique of note. Based on the results of data analysis, ther are five strategy of impoliteness and six causes of impoliteness were found. The five strategy of impoliteness are (1) Bald on record Impoliteness; (2) positive impoliteness, including ignoring others, using nicknames, using jargon / slang, taboo, curse; (3) Negative Impoliteness, including scaring, ridiculing, criticizing, or mocking, insulting others, disparaging or demeaning others, violating personal space, associating partners with negative words; (4) sarcasm or mock politeness; and (5) withhold politeness. Six causes of impoliteness are (1) direct criticism with harsh words; (2) the emotional impulse of the speaker; (3) protective of opinion; (4) deliberately accuse the spokesperson; (5) deliberately discrediting the said partner; and (6) hide information.
