KORELASI KEPRIBADIAN INTROVERT DENGAN PERILAKU TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL INTROVER KARYA M.F. HAZIM ( KAJIAN PSIKOLOGI SASTRA)

Abdullah, M.A., II KhotibulUmam, S.S., M.Hum The material object of this research is a novel entitled Introver by M.F. Hazim. This research uses descriptive methods based on theory of structural fiction and theory of psychology of literature. The aim of this research is to explain the intrinsic aspects in the novel Introver, to observe the personality of Nawawi as the main character, and to describe the traits (extraversion-introversion) and its function which Nawawi has. The writer applies theory of structural fiction to analyze elements of the story (characters and characterisation, plot, and setting). This research also focuses on the theory of personality by Carl Gustav Jung based on Jung’s typology namely introversion of mind and extroversion of feeling. The result of the structural analysis of the novel Introver shows that there are eight characters consisting one main character and seven additional characters. The novel exhibits progressive plot since parts of it are connected to each other. The setting contains of setting of place, time, and social culture. The result of the psychological analysis of the main character’s personality generally demonstrates that he has conscious and unconscious traits. The conscious one in Nawawi, as the main character, is the introversion of mind that it is more dominant than other introversion traits. On the other hand, Nawawi’s unconscious personality is the extraversion of feeling and extraversion of mind concerning to his changing attitude towards other people.
