Abstract

ABSTRACT Santosa, Anissa Mediana Putri, 2018. “Bushido Values in Family Manga Chi’s Sweet Home by Kanata Konami”, Thesis, Japanese Literature, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Advisor Fajria Noviana, S.S., M.Hum. The research aims to explain about bushido values in the manga entitled Chi’s Sweet Home by Kanata Konami. This manga is tells about a family named Yamada family who lives in a mansion along with his pet, which is a kitten named Chi. Yamada’s family always hides Chi inside their mansion, because the owner of the mansion does not like animal. Yamada’s family must always conceal the existence of Chi. They are scared that one day Chi will be thrown away by the owner of the mansion. The method used in this reseach is literature study. The theory used in this research is structural theory to reveal intrinsic substance in this manga, such as the theme, character and characterization also background of the story. The bushido theory is used to revealed bushido values in Chi’s Sweet Home manga. The results showed that Chi are the main characters in this anime. Youhei, Father, Mother, Kuro, and Owner of the mansion are additional characters. Playground, Mansion, Veterinary Hospital are the place space or setting in this manga. The situation backgrounds are tense, grieve, and heartwarming. The events that happened to the character in the manga show that there are six appropriated bushido values: generosity, justice, dignity, loyalty, decency, courage.
