REPRESENTASI CITRA PEREMPUAN JAWA DALAM BUKU HABIS GELAP TERBITLAH TERANG KARYA ARMIJN PANE (Studi Stilistika Feminis)

Abstract

Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang by Armijn Pane consists of Kartini's letter compilation when she alive. This book summarized Kartini's protests as Javanese woman for the injustice that she and her fellow women faced in Java. By her struggle, Kartini was notified as one of National Freedom Hero and claimed as feminist figure by some people because she succeeded to cut of women subordination that exist many years ago like banned educatuin and marriage forced. However, after Kartini got her chance for education, she choosed to not use it and prefer to marry. Her decision was very contradiction with Kartini's protests and ideas in that book. This research conducted to describe Javanese woman ideas and her position in Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang that described by Kartini based on (1) the image of Javanese women in Armijn Pane's Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang in writing words and sentences according to Stylistics Feminist theory of Sara Mills; (2) discourse construction of Javanese women to examine its position in the text. This research used critic paradigm and analysis method of Sarah Mills Stylistic Feminism that consist of word, sentence and discourse element. The result showed that word and sentence chosing in Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang by Armijn Pane was succeed to build discourse of Javanese women struggle to get its equal position in social life. While in discourse, Javanese women construction as legitimate part was not become dominant truth logic in the book, because discourse of women was also narated as unlegitimate part.
